A chance to show a little of the work I've done. I grew up in a family where we had these stories about the early Leveretts, and the great fight with Cotton Mather, etc. Finally I just did research on it. It's not absolutely clear that we are descended from the first two, Thomas and John, who I'm named after, and it's definitely true that we're not descended from John the President of Harvard, a founder of secular education in the colonies. Nevertheless we kind of claim them, and they are very interesting, and they played a major role in the development of Puritan Massachusetts. Exactly what that link is, is also well worth exploring. I believe it was John the President's sister, and I actually believe that I found her, and I have no idea why she'd move up toward Salem just as the witch trials were happening. Well, I have some idea, but it's all lost in very obscure Puritan journals.
