This Elizabeth Mansfield Irving (top) and Kate Brownlee Sherwood (bottom), two women I am writing a book about, who arrived in Washington DC in 1892 for an Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic, and were duly drawn and written about in the National Tribune of Oct. 6, 1892.
